Augarten Dreaming
Agencies of collective memory
The project explores Digital Data Artefacts as a new mean of Cultural Production and embraces Collective Memory as Manifestation of Societal Development.
Questioning the integrity of Viennese Parks, allegedly public spaces of restricted access and distinct border conditions, an intervention aims to overcome the physical border of surrounding walls, transforming the clear boundary into a multifunctional space of intervention.
Image data geotagged with Augarten serves as training samples for a context-specific GAN, reflecting prominent features of the park in its latent walks. Layering up into threedimensional data structures, these interpolations become manifestations of cultural production.
In a hybrid process of analog model building, digital translation and reciprocal reassesments an intervention emerges as hybrid of willfulness and intuition, preserving an ephemeral state of the digital archive as well as tackling the parks boundary conditions.
